Basabe Another Top LI Player
With all the hoopla about Long Island's strong class of 2010, one player managed to fly under the radar, despite having a very strong summer. Fortunately, the college coaches took notice, even if the folks back home were out of the loop. Melsahn Basabe, a 6'7 forward from Glen Cove that attends prep school in Massachusetts, got high marks at the Hoop Group Elite Camp and the Elite 75 Showcase, and then his overall play with the Gauchos continued to push him up the rankings the rest of the summer. The result was plenty of college offers, and although he's had serious interest from high major schools, he has narrowed down his choices to VCU, Siena, and Drexel because he "wants to play".
