Basketball Manitoba has announced details on the new NCCP Community Coaching clinic system. The inaugural clinic will be held at Sturgeon Heights Collegiate on Sunday, September 27 and is being hosted by Manitoba's Master Learning Facilitator, Kirby Schepp. Over the past few years, the NCCP in partnership with Canada Basketball has been revamped to recognize the changing landscape of today’s sport and coaching needs. This new ‘stream’ of the NCCP caters to coaches specifically working with children in a recreational basketball system, including the WMBA community centre leagues. The Community Coach system has been developed to replace what was known as ‘Level 1 Technical’ and ‘Level 1 Theory’. These two clinics have been combined and refined to meet the coaching demands of today!

Central & Westman RTC Tryouts Set

Basketball Manitoba has announced the details on the upcoming Regional Training Centre dates and locations for the Central & Westman Region programs. The open tryouts for males in the Central Region will take place Sunday Sept. 27th in Winkler, Manitoba and on Sunday. Oct. 18th in Portage la Prairie for the females. The open tryouts for the males in the Westman Region will take place on Sunday Oct. 4th in Brandon and Saturday Oct. 3 and Sunday Oct. 4 in Brandon for the females. The RTC's are patterned after the Centre for Performance Program and strive to provide athletes an opportunity to enhance their basketball skill level in preparation for the Manitoba Provincial Teams (15U & 17U), the CP program and beyond. In addition to this, they promote individual skill, team concepts, strength and agility education, time management, and planning and personal development skills. Tickets to the upcoming MBHOF Class of 2009 Induction Dinner set for Saturday October 3 at the Victoria Inn are going fast!

Make plans to attend and support the 2009 Inductees including three Athletes include former NBA player Todd MacCulloch, early 1990's Wesmen stand-out Andrea Hutchens and Brandon Bobcat star Jerry Abernathy from the late 1970's. Those joining the Hall in the Builder category include Mike Spack and Bob Hazell. The two teams being inducted are the 1996 Brandon Bobcats Men's national championship team and the Warren Collegiate Wildcats Varsity Girls 5 provincial championship teams ranging from 1992 and 1997. Jr. Bison Boys Grade 5 Team Announce Try-Outs

The Junior Bison Boys Basketball program will be holding an identification camp on Sunday, October 11th for players in Grade 5. The camp will be held at Investors Group Centre from 5pm to 6.30 pm. There is a $10 registration fee and players are required to bring their own basketballs. Coaching Manitoba Dartfish Course Coming Oct 18

Analyze This! is a Biomechanical Analysis Program designed to provide high performance coaches in Manitoba with the opportunity to access state of the art video recording equipment, software and computer programming. There is an upcoming DARTFISH training seminar on Sunday October 18, 2009. Interested coaches are encouraged to attend our 6 hour workshop where they will learn how to analyze athletes by inputting digital video footage into the DARTFISH Technology software and will then learn how to operate several of the analysis tools. Space is limited, so register soon! COURSE FEE is $25.

WMBA Foundation Receives Charitable Status Towards Outdoor Court Projects

The Winnipeg Minor Basketball Foundation Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been accepted as a registrant under the National Sport Trust Fund administered through Sport Manitoba. The Foundation is raising funds for the construction of outdoor basketball courts and possible indoor court facilities. To date outdoor courts have been constructed at Garden City and WhyteRidge Community Centres. A further court is presently being constructed at Dakota Community Centre. Hoops to Heal Benefit Basketball Tournament Set for Oct 9-11

The Manitoba Magic Basketball Club have announced details on its 3rd annual Hoops that Heal Basketball Tournament. The event will run October 9-11 at the University of Manitoba Investor's Group Athletic Centre. Net proceeds from the event will go directly to the Arthritis Society of Manitoba. Your participation in this tournament will help raise much needed funds for this debilitating disease. In 2008, the event was able to raise $900 to give straight to the Arthritis Society.
