Company Background

Global Basketball Academy was founded in January 2009 as a company that provides basketball services to young players and coaches both nationally and internationally.

Current Situation

The contradicting messages young players and coaches are getting these days have frustrated us for quite some time. There is such an overload of information available as to how to “improve your game” that it can simply be overwhelming.

We have identified several major problems with current programmes:



Too expensive (professional coaches lending their name to programmes, resulting in unrealistic pricing)
Too complex (many programmes teach such advanced techniques that NBA players would struggle to execute them)
Too basketball focused (forgetting that there is more to life than just basketball)


We also see a problem that a lot of programmes are simply offered in one medium, a book, video or camp.

Furthermore there is a huge amount of coaches out there who want to improve their coaching ability and help their athletes get better but are overwhelmed with the information that is available.

Opportunity

In all off this we can see a tremendous opportunity to help enhance the sport of basketball and how it is delivered.

Would it not be great if young players and coaches can turn to one brand for all their basketball needs?

We aim to become the one stop shop for young basketball players and coaches around the world. Our programmes will solve all the problems listed above by providing a simple unified approach.

Young players and coaches will be able to read our value for money e-books, watch our movies and listen to our audio programmes during their workouts to give them the knowledge they need to compete and to help others.

At the same time young players will have the opportunity to participate in our camps and academies, which will be teaching the same principles and methods as our education material.

Expertise

We have got a solid track record of running basketball businesses in New Zealand. Our founder and Managing Director, Alex Stojkovic, has worked and coached both on the amateur and professional level in New Zealand and possesses the expertise and contacts internationally to get this business off the ground.
