The Calgary Out West Basketball Association was established to develop the skills of female basketball players. The Out West Teams function in Spring and Summer, and participate in Canadian and international tournaments. Out West has developed a reputation for delivering excellence in basketball.
Calgary Out West Basketball Association

The Calgary Out West Basketball Association is unique. It is the longest existing club which specializes in the development of female basketball players in Canada. Out West is also the most successful club in Canada when it comes to placement of its players in university, college and professional programs.


Out West will be operating six teams for the 2010 season which commences in April and runs until the latter part of July. The Program content offers development opportunities for female players beginning at the U13 level.

Athlete selection is carried out by recruitment and identification clinics. Contact and other information regarding the 2010 teams will be posted on this website in late September. Out West programming is designed for players who want to develop excellence. Expectations placed upon Out West athletes is high and a significant level of commitment is demanded. Out West is not a recreational program and team positions are limited.

If you are advanced in the sport of basketball, and have the drive and determination to achieve excellence, contact Out West for more information. The deadline for the first phase of athlete identification is October 31, 2009. Age categories are determined by the age of the athlete as of December 31, 2009.

Latest News

July 2009: The Calgary Out West Basketball Association is pleased to announce that two of our athletes are members of the Alberta U15 Provincial Team.

Katie Waring and Shanice Govia were both selected to the roster to compete at this year's National Championships held at Thompson River University in Kamloops, BC.

Katie played on our U17 team this Spring and is in her second year with the Provincial Team. She has been named Captain of the team this year. Shanice played with the U15 team and is in her first year with the Provincial Team program.
